Procrastination / Excuses

I began this project a few days ago. I wasn't sure what was going to come of it, I just began drawing lines really. I went to Michael's the other day and purchased some Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils and I must say... I LOVE THEM!!! In this picture you can see the beautiful intense colors achieved with these 'inktense' pencils. I am not really one for using colors lightly... I have always loved the vibrant tones that I can make with watercolors. I think I use them very much like acrylic paints.
Lately I have been procrastinating, trying to do everything but the 'large' task I have placed before myself. I will find the smallest of things to do before I tackle any of the large task like creating a sculpture as I chip away or smooth out the surface of the larger task a little at a time. Most often I find myself not finishing projects if they are too large or too overwhelming for me to do... I hate that about myself. I want to change... I just do not know how. I am not very good with change.
I like the overall effects of this picture, the words, images and lines create almost a 3D effect. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like those squares on the top and bottom of the page are coming out a little bit towards me ~ or I might just need a new prescription in my glasses! LOL.
Thanks for stopping by. Please let me know what you think.
Happy Creating Everyone.

I KNEW you'd love the Inktense pencils. They are a dream over gesso.
I love this page. I could easily have written it myself. I have a big project that I told myself I would do this summer and the summer's almost over and I've barely touched it. It stares at me and makes me feel guilty whenever I pass it. I WANT to work on it, and I've enjoyed what I've done so far, so why can't I make myself finish? Anyway, I love the way the words and color are just bursting forth from the person in the center of your page.

OOOO- Nice!!! I love the color and the change in text size. I can see a 3D, too, so I think your glasses are ok. :) It all kind of reflects your blog picture with your arms up in the air in a happy stance.
I'm ready to go get my watercolor pencils out now. Thanks for the inspiration.

i agree, the colors are beautiful. And as for needing new glasses, I recommend "rose colored"-lol. I can sooooo relate to what you are said about finishing stuff-how hard it can be for me, tooAND how hard it is to change that about ourselves. If you find a solution for that be sure and blog it so we can learn it,too!

Absolutely gorgeous! I was staring at this earlier and my 7 year old daughter came to peek over my shoulder; "She DREW that?!" was her comment. So yeah - it's unanimous! I love those inktense pencils. I bought three without realizing what exactly they were, and now I want to go back and get the rest!
