Summertime

On Melisa's blog she posted a page in her journal called "No Big Deal" and the technique she used was such a great idea I had to try with my own journal!

This is another entry into my "Composition Book" journal. What I did was pick out a picture in a magazine, glue it onto a page, gesso over top of it (lightly over the image so that I could still see an outline of the image)... When that fully dried (I would leave it a few hours) I used watercolor crayons to paint overtop of it. The effect created vibrant beautiful colors. The one thing I did notice that made it a little difficult for me was if I blended the blue in the color went a mucky color because the paint underneath it was not a permanent. Over on Melisa's blog she used Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencil Crayons which are permanent. I am going to look for some of those and give them a try.
I hope you like it. I had a fun time creating it. Thanks Melisa for the idea.
Happy Creating Everyone!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

It turned out great. Glad you had fun with it. We learn so much from all the different group members.

Always fun to try new things! Love the colors and the upward looking eyes.

It turned out great! Perfect sunny summertime colors, too. Fun technique, isn't it? I think the way you've got the words crowding around her (nice handwriting!) gives a good effect of the anxiety you talk about having in the journaling. Very effective!
